Commuters are using the new turbo roundabout in Gilroy, California, but there have been more accidents compared to similar intersections in the state. Caltrans spokesperson explains that there is usually a learning curve with roundabouts, but once drivers become familiar with them, the concerns and collisions decrease.

The new " turbo roundabout " at the intersection of highways 25 and 156, in Gilroy , Calif., is complete in San Benito County. Commuters are using the finished pinwheel-shaped rotary for the first time, but there have been more accidents compared to similar intersections in the state. Rear-impact and T-bone collisions are particularly common.

Caltrans spokesperson, Jim Shivers, explains that there is usually a learning curve with roundabouts, but once drivers become familiar with them, the concerns and collisions decrease. The turbo roundabout is a three-lane rotary with dividers to prevent lane changes. It is only the second of its kind in the United States
