Manchester Council has been granted powers to enforce Moving Traffic Contraventions (MTCs), with fines of over £100 for drivers. The first enforcement will take place in Stockport Road junction with Dickinson Road and Stanley Grove in Longsight.
A series of new traffic safety measures are set to be installed across Manchester - which could see drivers fined over £100.
From mid-November, Drivers who break the MTCs will be fined £70 which will be reduced to £35 if it is paid within 21 days, however, if the fine hasn’t been paid in 28 days, it will rise to £105. Manchester Council say the new measures will help make roads safer for those walking or cycling, Reduce congestion, improve journey times, improve air quality, and increase safety and clean air around schools.
In the past five years there have been four collisions at this junction resulting in either serious injury or death, according to Manchester Council.
