Justice Michelle O\u0027Bonsawin said her background had helped shape her, but it was not central to her role as a judge

She told MPs she wanted to be a lawyer and a judge from the age of nine, but never thought she would reach the Supreme Court.

“I’m hoping that young people, female Indigenous women, will see that anything is possible if you set your mind to it and you surround yourself with great people,” she said ”I’ve stood on, as I said, the shoulders’ of giants throughout my life.
