Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has gazetted new regulations aimed at lifting South Africa’s national state of disaster.
These regulations, which are currently open for public comment until 17h00 on Friday , will help inform the government’s decision on when and how to lift the state of disaster in the coming weeks, Dlamini-Zuma said in aShe added that the state of disaster cannot be lifted in a ‘reckless and abrupt manner’, and that some rules would likely remain in place for a further 30-day period once it is lifted.
No person will be allowed to use, operate, or perform any service on any form of public transport without a mask. The school environment is excluded from the requirement of maintaining a distance of at least one metre from another person. Alternatively, gatherings are permitted for the unvaccinated and those without tests but limited to 1,000 persons or less for indoor venues and 2,000 persons or less for outdoor venues.
