According to The Athletic’s Mitch Sherman, Carter had also recently served on the Big Ten’s Council of Presidents and Chancellors as it navigated the decision to expand to 18 teams.that Carter’s “savvy and smarts” helped recruit football coach Matt Rhule last year. He called his departure “a big blow to #Husker athletics.”
Carter also takes over during a period of great change within the Big Ten. UCLA, USC, Washington and Oregon are all leaving the Pac-12 to join the Big Ten in 2024.
