While retention is good, the department continues to lose officers through attrition.
Three new officers were sworn into the Lancaster City Bureau of Police.Aaron Jackson, Melanie Rodriquez and Trent Wolgemuth took the oath Wednesday morning. Jackson was a patrol officer with the Philadelphia Police Department for six years. Rodriquez is a recent graduate and specialist in the Army National Guard.Wolgemuth is a graduate of Manheim Central High School in Lancaster County and was the top cadet in his class.
We've been pouring a lot of money, time and energy into having a more personal approach to how we're recruiting folks that are coming from all over the area. We've kind of expanded our net of control so that we can communicate to folks that might have not otherwise thought about becoming a police officer here in Lancaster city.
