Ost explained that shebecause she didn't want to bring him into the appointment with her and instead made the potentially deadly mistake of leaving a child in the car on an incredibly hot day.
The new mom had given birth to her son July 12 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital, according to the She reportedly signed the baby out of the hospital against the advice of his doctors, which prompted a meeting with DCS and a social worker four days later. It was scheduled for July 16, when the mom brought her newborn in for a checkup with his doctor.
The temperature that day was about 86 degrees outside and all of the windows were up, Fox 29 noted. Luckily, the doors were not locked and the responding officer was able to reach in, grab the boy, and take him inside.
