The Loch Ness Centre is embarking on a new journey to uncover the 'secrets' of the legendary loch, and is asking locals and visitors alike to join in the search.

A huge 'wildlife watch' of Loch Ness to uncover its "secrets" has been announced this spring, and Scots are being urged to take part.

Now, an eight-month survey will kick off in spring to further delve into the mysteries of the loch. The survey, which is being described as an "attempt to uncover the secrets of Loch Ness", will involve researching, mapping, and photographing the wildlife living in and around the body of water. The Scottish Highlands is famous for being home to a wealth of amazing wildlife, with eager eyes witnessing everything from playful otters to majestic buzzards and kites to whimsical red squirrels. Those heading to Loch Ness are being asked to report on what they see and when, alongside further details such as the weather and the loch's surface water condition.

At the same time, the warmer weather also brings with it the return of Deepscan Cruises, allowing visitors to Loch Ness to hop on a boat with Captain Alistair Matheson and look for things out on the water. The one-of-a-kind experience takes guests on a journey to the breathtaking Urquhart Castle, while letting them search the depths of the loch using world-class sonar equipment on board.
