President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the unveiling event of the statue at King Shaka Airport in Durban on Thursday.
DURBAN - President Cyril Ramaphosa says the new statue of late Zulu King Shaka will inspire tourists to learn more about the country’s heritage and history.The statue was built following a request from the late Zulu King Zwelithini.
Regiments joined by Zulu princes singing elethu izwe, ngowani lombango? which means “this is our land, why is there conflict?”Zulu regiments chanted in high spirits as they celebrated the life and legacy of one of the Zulu founding monarchs, King Shaka kaSenzangakhona. On Thursday, government and the Zulu royal family unveiled Shaka’s statue at the international airport named after him."This statue will not only inspire visitors to our country, but it will also invite other visitors to come and see this statue a representation of a great king - it is the greatest source of pride."
Ramaphosa added that the statue would contribute to the country’s history which will be told for generations to come. Zulu monarch Misuzulu KaZwelithini and Queen KaMyeni arriving at the King Shaka International Airport where he will unveil the statue of the King Shaka alongside President
