Environment Canada has issued another heat warning for Vancouver Island, saying Port Alberni and other inland communities could see highs of up to 34 degrees.
A ridge of high pressure has arrived over the Island and will persist through Thursday, with cooler temperatures in the forecast Friday and over the weekend.
Inland Vancouver Island will see daytime highs of between 29 to 34 degrees and overnight lows between 15 and 17 degrees, A heat warning was also renewed for eastern Vancouver Island on Wednesday, impacting Courtenay to Campbell River, Duncan to Nanaimo and Nanoose Bay and Fanny Bay.Nanaimo will see a high of up to 34 degrees Wednesday and up to 33 degrees Thursday, according to Environment Canada’s seven-day forecast.Sign up for our newsletter to get breaking news and daily digests sent to your email.
Young kids, people who are pregnant or have chronic illnesses, older adults and those working or exercising outdoors are especially at-risk, Environment Canada says.
