It's confirmed! There's an Alpine SUV coming - the GT X-Over will go into production in... 2025
, the firm said an all-electric line up would include a small car and an SUV. Now we have some idea of what's coming in the next few years, with a both a new name - the GT X-Over - and a factory location - the iconic Dieppe facility - confirmed for the upcoming Alpines.
In case the name didn't give it away, GT X-Over will be the Alpine crossover. It's going to be built on the CMF-EV platform that also underpins the Nissan Ariya and Renault Megane E-Tech. Alpine says the GT X-Over"will combine the brand's competitive know-how and the group's experience in electric vehicles, with all the excellence in sports vehicles that defines the Alpine brand.
Unsurprisingly, the new product plan is going to require some significant adjustment at Dieppe, which will include adapting the site to ensure it can produce an electric car. It's getting a new name to mark the occasion, too; what was Usine Alpine Dieppe is now Manufacture Alpine Dieppe Jean Rédélé, named after the founder of the brand.
There is plenty of work still to be done, however, as the GT X-Over confirmation is merely the latest step in the 'Renaulution' grand plan. With the renovation of the Dieppe factory now confirmed, production of the GT X-Over is expected from 2025. But it will be full steam ahead from that point, with the new compact car and replacement sports car also due by 2026. And right now we're only four years from when those first A110s arrived in the UK - it'll come around soon enough...
