New environment minister Dion George reaffirms SA's commitment to reducing emissions

The bi-annual meeting aims to discuss key issues related to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change negotiations at the upcoming Conference of PartiesGovernment of national unity ministers are not wasting time getting to grips with their respective ministries, and they are already representing the country on the international stage.

The bi-annual meeting aims to discuss key issues related to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change negotiations at the upcoming Conference of Parties .These include the need to finalise the rules around carbon markets, adaptation indicators, the Just Transition Pathways Work Programme, the Mitigation Work Programme and the new collective quantified goal on finance.

George stated that the country is focused on implementing actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the Just Energy Transition Investment Plan , with measures concerning electricity, electric vehicles, and green hydrogen. Minister Dr. Dion George delivered his opening remarks at the 8th Ministerial Meeting on Climate Action in Wuhan, China.
