There will also be a pedestrian crossing to the site

A coffee chain giant could set up a new Nottinghamshire branch by transforming a restaurant next to a major road. The site to the north of Radcliffe Road , Holme Pierrepont, is currently occupied by Indian restaurant Mewar Haveli, but could be turned into a Starbucks drive-thru if Rushcliffe Borough Council approves the fresh plans.

The property previously hosted a Little Chef unit before it was renamed the Mewar Haveli in 2014. The application seeks planning consent for the reconfiguration of the existing car park, construction of collection kiosk, external alterations and other ancillary works to accommodate a Starbucks drive-thru unit in the existing restaurant building.

Developers have said the existing car park would be reconfigured to provide a drive-thru lane and new pedestrian areas, including a marked pedestrian crossing. The modified car park will be located to the south of the site and have 20 parking spaces, including two accessible spaces; six spaces with provision for electric vehicle charging; and a dedicated waiting bay.

The site car park access, from the shared access road with the neighbouring petrol filling station, would be improved as part of the development. The access point will be in the same location but those behind the plans have explained the access would be widened and new road markings introduced. Designs for the car park include enhanced pedestrian access facilities with a new footpath and marked crossing creating what the applicant has described as "high-quality pedestrian access" between Radcliffe Road and the drive-thru unit. The planning application, submitted by UrbanEdge on behalf of applicant Dwyer Property, is pending consideration by Rushcliffe Borough Council.
