Cost of living payments worth £300 will start landing in accounts from October 31.
SNP MP Drew Hendry has asked the Department for Work and Pensions if it has “made an assessment of the potential merits of extending the upcoming cost of living payment eligibility cut off dates” for certain people claiming Universal Credit. The Shadow SNP Spokesperson for Economy specifically highlighted those on Universal Credit and in work, whose incomes have fallen as a result of ill health past the eligibility dates.
Ms Davies added: “We have kept the eligibility rules for the cost of living payments as simple as possible to deliver them promptly and accurately. All payments will be made automatically, nobody needs to apply or contact DWP or HMRC before the scheduled window opens. For joint Tax Credits claimants, where one claimant receives Working Tax Credit and the other claimant receives Child Tax Credit, payments will be made into the same bank account as the Child Tax Credit.
