ICYMI: New assistant coaches Marc Savard and Dan Lambert bringing new ideas to Flames
When Huska was hired as the Flames’ new head coach a couple weeks ago, both he and GM Craig Conroy spoke about a specific tweak to the way they play defensively that should cut down on their opponents’ high-danger opportunities.
Lambert would take over as the Rockets’ head coach when Huska joined the Flames organization in 2014, and the team would win the WHL championship in his first season at the helm.Article content That’s a lot of experience, and while he might not have divulged anything too, too specific about the way the Flames might approach defence next year, there are certain things he already knows he wants to see.
As for Savard, he’s joining Huska’s staff after interviewing for the Flames’ head coaching job last month. The new job marks a return to Calgary for the 45-year-old, who played parts of four seasons with the Flames from 1999 to 2002 as part of an 807-game NHL career.
