Don't Breathe director Fede Álvarez's upcoming Alien installment finally gets a release date for 2024 as Disney rearranges their release calendar.
Amid Disney's recent release calendar shakeup, the upcoming Alien movie has received a 2024 release date. The studio announced several changes to its theatrical schedule, adjusting the premiere dates for some of its major movies. Various franchises, including the Avatar and Marvel Cinematic Universe franchises, were met with significant delays, while some films were finally given release dates.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Studios' upcoming Alien film finally gets a premiere date while Disney rearranges their theatrical release schedule. The new installment of the long-running science-fiction horror franchise will hit theaters August 16, 2024. No additional details regarding the film were revealed in the announcement.

Rounding out the cast are Rosaline's Isabela Merced, Industry's David Jonsson, The Greatest Beer Run Ever's Archie Renaux, and young stars Spike Fearn and Alieen Wu.
With the reveal of a facehugger, it is safe to conclude the movie will at least take place after the events of Prometheus and Alien: Covenant which depicted the origins of the Xenomorphs as audiences know them. Álvarez's experience with Evil Dead and the Don't Breathe films may also suggest the writer-director will take the franchise back to its roots with a contained thriller featuring the cast hunted by aliens within the confines of the space station.
