The centre is expected to provide theoretical and hands-on training for more than 700 people annually by 2026. The provincial government is providing $2 million for the facility, while the federal government is providing $5.2 million. Construction is slated to be completed at the end of the year, with the first program expected to be delivered in the summer of 2024.
A report estimated that by 2029, Canada will need more than 16,000 people in biomanufacturing, including more than 3,400 in Metro Vancouver.
