TOP STORY: Nersa greenlights 18.65% electricity tariff hike amid load shedding woes
Consumers should brace themselves to pay more for electricity after the National Energy Regulator of SA approved an 18.65% tariff hike by Eskom for the 2023/24 financial year.
Eskom had requested a 32% tariff hike application for 2023/24, with the view to recover R351 billion, but Nersa approved R318 billion after making various adjustments.The regulator also approved a R352 billion recovery for 2024/25. "For the 2024/25 financial year, Nersa has approved R334 billion, which translates to 195.95c/kWh, resulting in a 12.74% increase, based on the tariff of 173.80c/kWh approved tariff for the 2023/24 financial year,” said Bukula.
