Electricity is going to increase by 9.4 percent this year, according the National Energy Regulator of South Africa.
JOHANNESBURG - The National Energy Regulator of South Africa announced its decision on whether Eskom should get a 15 percent annual tariff hike for the next three years on Thursday.The utility was approved for some tariff increases but far less than the requested percentage points.The regulator approved the following Eskom tariff hikes: 2019 - 9.42 percent, 2020 - 8.1 percent, and 2021 - 5.22 percent.
Nersa chairperson Jacob Modise said Nersa received 119,000 comments in response to Eskom’s two applications for a total R784-billion in revenue.
