Lord of the Rings stars Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan will be starring in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead on the Neptune stage, running Jan. 30-Feb. 25, 2024.
It’s the first time the pair have been in a play together, the actors said in a video.
The play is a ‘tragicomedy’ about about two of the lesser characters from Hamlet and Webb said it’s considered a modern classic. “I think they have an amazing following. Folks that have seen Lord of the Rings or Dominic has been in Star Wars and Lost, of course, and Billy has done so much too,” said Webb. “I think that those people will be so excited just to see them on stage, but of course it’s also an amazing play and they’ll be really good at it.”
“At my age, I’m looking for kicks, things I’ve never done before,” he said, adding that being scared is good because that’s where the growth happens. Actors Noah Tran, Julia Topple, Stephane Gaudet, Marietta Laan and Maddie Maitzen entertain the crowd by singing show tunes at the 2023-24 Neptune Theatre season launch on Tuesday. - Ryan TaplinThe theme this year is It’s Time and that sprang from a number of conversations Webb had with people who said they’ve never been to Neptune.
