Three fire engines were called to the scene in the early hours of this morning
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to Barrington Road in Wavertree at 1.28am this morning after reports that a house on the street had caught fire.
“There was smoke everywhere and it was so warm we could feel it from our step and the smoke was coming inside our house. We called the police and waited for someone to come.” The 59-year-old said: “My father-in-law died in October and we have been looking after it ever since. It looks like firemen have cut a hole through the door to get in. I did not know that there had been a fire last night and it looks so bad up close. I’m shocked and a lovely family lives there. I hope they are okay.”
“We did not go outside but we just stood at the window watching. We could see the family standing in our neighbour's garden watching the fire... They looked distraught.
