The teachers' union claims striking healthcare workers attacked their members who were attending a workshop in the Eastern Cape on Wednesday.

The union's Nomusa Cembi says this was not the first time they have borne the brunt of The National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union's ire.Cembi says Nehawu is a bully that hides behind empty revolutionary rhetoric."Sadtu wants to make it clear that we will not be bullied by anyone or union for that matter, during these negotiations. South Africa is a constitutional democracy and not a banana republic.

"The lawlessness we are experiencing undermines the essence of unionism. As education workers, we equally fought for this democracy. We will not stand by the side-lines."
