Nehawu led a series of protests on Thursday. It wants changes to be made in the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE), among other issues.
JOHANNESBURG – The National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union on Thursday threatened to call a strike if government failed to respond to its demands for improved working conditions for front line workers fighting the coronavirus pandemic.
Nehawu demanded safer working conditions for front line workers in the fight against COVID-19, saying that substandard personal protective equipment was being given to workers. Nehawu’s general-secretary, Zola Saphetha, said that government should remember who had put it in power.
