Supercars Ladies Club members Angela Ng, a housewife; Joey Quek, a lawyer and F&B entrepreneur; Maria Dharmadji, who has retired from her family's marine offshore business; and Amanda Toh Steckler, an F&B entrepreneur. These women have even zoomed up to 300kmh across various overseas racetracks, such as the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. They are members of the Supercars Ladies Club , an all-women, by-invite-only social community for supercar owners.
While some members knew one another from other car clubs, such as the McLaren Owners Club Singapore and the Ferrari Owners’ Club Singapore, others got acquainted only after joining SLC. “Hopefully, we will spread the culture of safe and educated driving while enjoying the cars that we drive,” adds the mother of three, who is also a member of the Ferrari Owners’ Club Singapore.
Ms Maria recalls the exhilarating time she had in wintry Finland in 2023, when she flew there for the Pure McLaren Arctic Experience to learn ice driving, including drifting and performing doughnut manoeuvres, across a frozen lake in Lapland. During the week-long Epic Drive in Britain, the women also drove up to 300kmh on the tracks at Goodwood Circuit near Chichester, West Sussex.
Ms Quek, who is relatively new to performance driving, had to muster the courage to zip along at top speed. “Driving on normal roads is more dangerous as you don’t know how other motorists drive, and there are also the errant pedestrians,” she adds. “We love to drive so much, and traffic offences will cost us our licence, which also means we cannot drive overseas,” Ms Maria says.
