The City of Cape Town has secured R3.5 billion in funding from Nedbank for an ambitious infrastructure investment project spanning three years, officials announced on Tuesday.
Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis said the Mother City plans to spend R39.5 billion on infrastructure from next month through to June 2027. The GNU has committed itself to a range of reforms, including infrastructure development, fixed capital investment, and industrialisation. “We have seen coalition governments in various metros which haven’t quite worked out as planned. But these elections were primarily premised on national and provincial government, so there may be some better direction from a provincial perspective,” he notes.
