Starting quarterback Casey Thompson missed two games with a concerning elbow nerve injury and didn’t quite look right in his return, completing 12 of 20 passes for a season-low 106 yards in the Cornhuskers’ 15-14 loss to Wisconsin. That extended a lowly dismal run for Nebraska’s offense, which had scored 13 or fewer points in each of its previous three games — including a measly three points in the game before Thompson’s return.
