With several labour representatives in the room, Singh said his party was the only one that wanted to expand unionization. In his speech, Singh said health care and inflation are issues his party will fight the Liberals on above and beyond the tenets of the confidence and supply agreement. He said Canadians deserve more support than the government is giving them and he called for a windfall tax on profitable corporations.Article content
Singh highlighted Trudeau’s ongoing discussions with provinces over health-care transfers. Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced earlier this week that his government would direct some surgeries to privately run clinics, while still covering the operations with public dollars.“The prime minister has an opportunity right now to protect medicare while negotiating funding with the provinces. We all agree there should be strings attached.
