Communications, Telecommunications and Postal Services Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams has paid a R1 000 admission of guilt fine for contravening the Covid-19 lockdown regulations.

In a statement on Wednesday, the National Prosecuting Authority confirmed that Ndabeni-Abrahams had paid the fine on Tuesday after being charged with contravening regulation 11B of the Disaster Management Act when she visited former ANC MP Mduduzi Manana for lunch earlier this month.

The image, which has since been deleted, was captioned: “It was great to host a former colleague and dear sister Cde Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams on her way back from executing critical and essential services required for the effective running of our country during the nationwide lockdown.” President Cyril Ramaphosa then placed her on special leave for two months – and docked her one month’s salary – for breaching the lockdown regulations.
