The University of Texas, led by Julien Alfred’s victory in the 100 meters and a win in the 4x100 relay, finished second in the NCAA women’s track and field championships on Saturday in Eugene, Ore.
On Saturday, Texas A&M’s Lamara Distin won the high jump in 6-4 ¾ and Charokee Young was second in the 400 to help the Aggies finish in a tie for fourth with LSU. Kentucky was third and Texas Tech sixth.In the women’s 100, Alfred edged Oregon’s Kemba Nelson in a photo finish. Alfred got first in 11.014, winning by less than a tenth of a second.
