Northern Cape Premier, Zamani Saul has denied any wrongdoing in connection with a COVID-19 tender, awarded to his adviser's wife.

Norman Shushu's wife, Mandisa was awarded a R13-million contract to supply the police with masks."There is no way that I could have been able to influence that."

Saul stated he spoke with his advisor following the reports on the matter and was assured, that the tender was cancelled and no money was exchanged."I spoke to him about this. He said as soon as this matter got to his attention, the issue of PPE procurement involving his wife, he instructed his wife to terminate that. He gave me guarantees that his wife has terminated that contract.

"She never made any deliveries to SAPS. There was no payment made from SAPS to his wife. He even said to me: if you don't believe me and what I am telling you, I give you leeway to approach SAPS to confirm what I told you," the premier said.
