Democrat Charlie Crist’s campaign manager was arrested and charged with domestic violence before stepping down from his position, NBC News reported Friday.
“Mr. Durrer was dismissed as soon as the campaign learned of this situation," Crist for Governor spokesperson Samantha Ramirez said Friday in a statement to reporters.
Durrer’s resignation comes in the final stretch of Crist’s uphill battle to defeat Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis. He and Crist square off Monday night in their only televised debate. For Crist, who is trailing in the latest polls and is vastly outspent by DeSantis, the TV debate may be his best chance to pull voters to his side as the Nov. 8 election nears.
