NBC News correspondent Miguel Almaguer made a snowy return to the network Monday with a story about the winter weather, following his nearly monthlong absence last month for a retracted report he did on Paul Pelosi.

Trotting through deep snow in a woody California setting, Almaguer took viewers through the punch of winter weather that was barreling east. The last time he was on air for the Today show, he did a story that suggested Paul Pelosi did not let on he was in pressing danger when police responded to the attack in late October.NBC concluded that his source for the story harbored biases, and while Almaguer has not publicly confirmed that he was suspended, the Daily Beast claimed he was.

Outgoing Speaker Nancy Pelosi was in Washington, D.C., at the time of the attack. Almaguer's story on Paul Pelosi garnered widespread attention because it contrasted with the narrative of the break-in. Early reports indicated that DePape asked,"Where is Nancy" and brought restraints with him to detain Paul, implying Pelosi was in danger. However, Almaguer reported that Paul Pelosi opened the door for police officers that responded to the 911 call and later walked back toward DePape away from police.

He also reported that police witnessed DePape strike Paul Pelosi over the head with a hammer, a detail that has since been corroborated by other reports, and raised questions about his mental state."The piece should not have aired because it did not meet NBC News reporting standards,” NBC said in a statement about its retraction without elaborating.
