The heat and humidity will be the main story in North Texas the next few days, but there will also be isolated storm chances as well. The best storm chances today will remain up north in Oklahoma. However, a couple pockets of rain could develop on our side of the Red River. The better chance will be in the northernmost counties today and tonight.

Temperatures will be a bit above normal for this time of year. Highs will be in the upper 90s today through the weekend with a heat index ranging from 102 to 107 each afternoon.: Mostly clear with a slight chance of storms to the north. Low: 80. Wind: SE 10 mph.Mostly sunny and hot. Slight chance of storms to the northeast. Low: 80. High: 97. Heat Index up to 104. Wind: S 10-15 mph.Partly cloudy and hot with a 30% chance of a thunderstorm. Low: 81. High: 95. Heat Index up to 105.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles. According to the National Safety Council, if it's 95 degrees outside the internal temperature of a car could climb to 129 degrees in 30 minutes. After just 10 minutes, temperatures inside could reach 114 degrees.
