An Ice Storm Warning is in effect across North Texas until 9 a.m. Thursday as temperatures remain below freezing.
Today will be another difficult day of impactful winter weather across North Texas. Roads are slick and hazardous this morning from the sleet and freezing rain that occurred on Tuesday. With temperatures below freezing today, little melting is expected. In addition, more sleet and freezing rain is expected today. Initially, it will be light precipitation in the morning . As the day wears on, however, the precipitation will get steadier and mostly likely be in the form of freezing rain.
An Ice Storm Warning has been issued for DFW and points to the west until 9 a.m. Thursday. Ice accumulation of up to a half inch is possible later today and tonight in this area. Trees and powerlines will be vulnerable. Be prepared for possible power disruptions if you live in the Ice Storm Warning area.
As the precipitation winds down, we'll see one last round of rain mixed with snow Thursday. Temperatures should warm above freezing Thursday afternoon though. Roads will improve significantly once temperatures warm above freezing. By Friday, most everything should be melted as sunshine and milder weather returns. In fact, high temperatures are expected to climb into the 50s and 60s by late in the weekend.
