Less than two years after Naya River's accidental death at Lake Piru, her family has settled a wrongful death lawsuit filed against Ventura County.on behalf of Rivera's 6-year-old son, Josey, and her estate four months after her death, in November 2020. According to online court records, a settlement was filed on 24 February, with a hearing scheduled to take place on 16 March. The settlement matters will be heard before a judge, who needs to officially sign off.
"Through this settlement, Josey will receive just compensation for having to endure the drowning of his beloved mother at Lake Piru," the Rivera family's lawyer, Amjad M. Khan, said in a statement obtained by"Though the tragic loss of Josey's mother can never truly be overcome, we are very pleased that the monetary settlement will significantly assist Josey with his life beyond this tragedy.
