Now’s the time to hit your yearly quota of waterfalls, redwoods and banana slugs.
The Nov. 11 free-entrance day is the last of five such events in 2022 and includes many popular California parks, Yosemite, Pinnacles, Joshua Tree, Sequoia and Kings Canyon among them. The enchanting Redwood parks up north, home to the tallest trees on the planet, are cancelling day-use fees for that day, too. The weather forecast at the moment for much of California looks cool and partly sunny, ideal conditions for working up a healthy sweat on a scenic trail.
With car-entrance fees of $30 to $35 for the grander parks like Yosemite and Joshua Tree, it’s a bargain that’s hard to pass up. And the next one doesn’t come until Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 16, 2023.
