Fadiel Adams, leader of the National Coloured Congress, has lodged a charge of defeating the ends of justice against Helen Zille, the DA's Federal Council Chairperson. The charges stem from Zille's claims of prior knowledge regarding police raids on the offices of two City of Cape Town Mayco members, Alderman JP Smith and Xanthea Limberg. Adams alleges that Zille's knowledge, purportedly gained from a police tip-off, could have allowed Smith to destroy evidence. He also criticizes the DA's handling of the Smith case compared to that of former Mayco member Malusi Booi, who faces corruption charges.

The charges come after concerns were raised following comments by Zille claiming prior knowledge of the raids conducted at the offices of two City of Cape Town Mayoral Committee members. "If you listen to Helen Zille, people like me don't know what they're doing. We don't have the necessary skills to do certain jobs.
He also drew attention to the perceived double standards between how the DA has handled the matter of Smith versus that of former DA Mayco Malusi Booi - who is embroiled in a R1 billion tender corruption case.
