has rarely had an easy path to election. In his first run, for state representative in 2014, he contended for a seat that had been held by a Democrat for eight years, and prevailed. Then in 2018, when his mother, Gayle Manning, was term-limited in the Ohio Senate,This year, Nathan Manning is running for a second term in Senate District 13, but the redistricting process turned what had seemed to be a reasonably safe Republican district back into a toss-up .
Equally significant in her interview with the editorial board was Hill’s apparent unfamiliarity with House Bill 6, the partly repealed nuclear bailout bill, or the fate of disgraced former House Speaker Larry Householder, whom House members expelled last year and who is awaiting trial in an alleged $61 million bribery scheme.
In the endorsement interview, Manning was at pains to tout his conservative credentials. “While I might have common sense and I’m nice and work with people to get things done, I also certainly have a very conservative voting record,” he said, pointing out that he was among 18 of the 132 Ohio legislators to receive the highest conservative rating from CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference.
