After four years of service, and with its power almost entirely gone, NASA's InSight lander has sent its final image from Mars.
It’s been known for some time that NASA’s InSight Lander was coming to the end of its operations on Mars after four years of service. And it looks as if its final communication with Earth has just taken place.
Related “My power’s really low, so this may be the last image I can send,” InSight said in the tweet. “Don’t worry about me though: my time here has been both productive and serene. If I can keep talking to my mission team, I will — but I’ll be signing off here soon. Thanks for staying with me.” InSight launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California on May 5, 2018, reaching Mars six months later on November 26.
