Nanaimo responds to extreme cold by extending hours at warming relief centres

The City of Nanaimo has offered funding to extend the hours of several warming centers in response to Wednesday’s arctic inflow. Those looking for a place to warm up can turn to one of three locations that will be extending their hours for the duration of this week, Feb. 22-24.: located at St. Paul’s Anglican Church on Chapel Street,
will be open an additional three hours per day, from 7 am to 7 pm on Thursday, Feb. 23 through Friday, Feb. 24. The organization can assist 30 to 40 people at one time. The typical hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
