On Thursday, the secretary to Parliament will be receiving the list of designated members from the chief justice in preparation for the first sitting of the house.
CAPE TOWN - Long-serving ministers Naledi Pandor, Bheki Cele, Thandi Modise and Thulas Nxesi are among those who won’t be making a return to Parliament after the African National Congress lost 71 seats in last week’s election.
After appearing in court for corruption charges on Wednesday, Zizi Kodwa’s return as a member of Parliament also hangs in the balance after he also resigned as sports, arts and culture minister. Former Communications Minister Dina Pule, who also left under a corruption cloud in 2013, will also be making a comeback.
Instead, it will be led by veteran MP Athol Trollip who once took charge of the DA caucus in the house.
