Naamsa and Transnet have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at sharing key data.
The National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa says it welcomes government’s commitment to improving the operational performance of key sectors like energy,It says ongoing projects such as revitalising the Port of Durban and upgrading the Gauteng-Eastern Cape railway line, are essential to the sector’s continued success.The agreement will support the implementation of strategic initiatives, monitored by performance indicators for rail performance in the auto industry.
Improved collaboration between the automotive industry and major finance institutions, has been identified as a key driver to promote sustainable projects in the sector.A call has also been made for government to provide incentives for manufacturers and subsidies for consumers to fast-track the adoption of electric vehicles.
