The project has apparently created a number of short-term job skills development opportunities.
The project to add a third lane to the N1 in both directions between Plattekloof Road and Old Oak Interchange in Cape Town is expected to be complete early next month.
“Up to 120,000 vehicles travel along this stretch of road each day,” DTPW spokesperson Byron la Hoe said. “The addition of a third lane in both directions will significantly reduce traffic congestion on one of Cape Town’s busiest roads. According to the department, the project has created a number of short-term job skills development opportunities.
