A man who admitted sexually abusing a young girl multiple times in Paterson was sentenced this month to 14 years in state prison, officials announced Monday.
The girl reported the abuse to police on April 6, 2021 when she was 16 years old, according to a statement from the. She told detectives the incidents happened several times at multiple homes in the city between September 2012 and September 2015. Police determined that James Jackson Jr., 39, of Paterson was the one who abused the girl and he was arrested on April 15, 2021, the office said.
Jackson pleaded guilty on Feb. 13, 2023 to two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said. When he is released, Jackson will be required to register as a sex offender and will be subject to parole supervision for life, the office said.
