Coughlin will attend Monday’s session virtually and won’t be in Trenton on Tuesday as the current session ends and new lawmakers are sworn into office.

The news comes a day before Coughlin was planning to preside over the Assembly’s final lame-duck session in whichof the Assembly be required to show a recent negative COVID-19 test result — regardless of their vaccination status.

Coughlin, who says he’s vaccinated, will attend Monday’s session virtually and won’t be in Trenton on Tuesday as the current session ends and new lawmakers are sworn into office. “I am experiencing very mild cold-like symptoms, but feel fine and am in good spirits,” Coughlin, D-Middlesex, said in a statement.
