An eyewitness thought it might have been some sort of 'small meteorite'
A mystery fireball has been spotted falling through the sky in the Midlands. A passenger of a car travelling on the busy A50 filmed in awe as the blazing flare-like object spiralled to the earth, leaving a trail of smoke in its wake, Stoke-on-Trent Live reports.
It was captured at around 4pm on Wednesday, September 20, when the road was busy with traffic. At first, the eyewitness - who was travelling along the A50 from Longton towards Blythe Bridge - thought it may have been some sort of small meteorite but is certain there is a more plausible explanation. He said: "I was coming home from work just after 4pm when I saw a fireball falling from the sky followed by a trail of smoke. I'm not really sure what it was, perhaps a firework or some kind of flare. It seemed much bigger to the naked eye than it does on the footage. It was weird - I've never seen anything like it before."
