'Amelia is a tough cookie and she's ok but she's suffered injuries to her head. I just don't know how kids can be like this. It's beyond cruel'

It looked like many shared across social media, a group of children on a bus home from school. The majority of them with their phones held aloft, all pointing at the same thing.

As a group of other schoolchildren filmed on their mobile phones, she was being repeatedly beaten by another girl. The footage was filmed by a fellow Valley Leadership Academy pupil as they headed to class on Thursday morning . Speaking to LancsLive from their home in Bacup yesterday both Amelia and mum Tyler said they were "incredibly thankful" from the support of the Bacup community. Mum-of-five Tyler said that while some had urged her to remove the video from Facebook, she felt it was necessary to highlight what Amelia had gone through in order to ensure youngsters are made aware that it is unacceptable.

Tyler said that after watching the video she feared that Amelia could be "the next Sophie Lancaster". Sophie was 20 when she died after being attacked by a group of teenage boys while walking through Stubbylee Park in Bacup in 2007 in an incident which was linked to Sophie's musical interests and how she dressed.

Tyler reported the incident to police after seeing the video. She said that she has been contacted by an officer who she says told her they would be visiting the school yesterday . A Lancashire police spokesperson said: “Yesterday we received a report of an assault committed on a school bus.
