The Muntinlupa City government warned the public to be on alert amid the rising number of dengue cases.
According to Dr. Juancho Bunyi, City Health Office head, the number of dengue cases in Muntinlupa totaled 94 as of July 17, or three percent higher compared to the same period last year. He said there are zero deaths from dengue in Muntinlupa.“Despite that our dengue cases are higher, we have not registered any deaths,” he said during the flag raising ceremony at the Muntinlupa City hall on July 17.
The city government is continuing with the space spraying and fogging operations, including room disinfection in public schools in Muntinlupa. It reminded people to follow the 5S Strategy to combat dengue. These are Search and destroy, Seek early consultation, Self-protection, Say “yes” to space spraying and Stay hydrated.
People are urged to clean mosquito breeding places; seek medical help if they have dengue symptoms including fever that lasts for at least two days and rashes; use insect repellants and wear long-sleeved shirts; and prevent dehydration by drinking water.
