Katie Cope says she went into survival mode
Seven months pregnant and in agony, Katie Cope picked up her phone and dialled her boss’s number. She wasn’t going to make it into work today.
“My first instinct was shock; I wasn’t ready for it,” she told the Manchester Evening News. “I didn’t know what was going to happen. And because she’d only recently started working for the business, she was only set to receive 18 days' worth of pay. She sat down with a pen and paper and wrote down all the options she had – including finding another job and starting her own business.
