Multiple people were shot and killed inside a Dollar General store in Jacksonville, Florida, on Saturday, according to the city's mayor.
The Associated Press reported that Mayor Donna Deegan told a local television station that “there are a number of fatalities” inside the store, though she didn't give an exact number.“This is unacceptable,” Deegan told WJXT. “One shooting is too much but these mass shootings are really hard to take."
Ju'Coby Pittman, a member of the Jacksonville City Council, told the station that the shooter is dead.Students at nearby Edward Waters University are being kept in their dormitories, the school said in a statement. City officials and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office are expected to hold a press conference shortly.
